Over the years Dr Tenn Yuk has been an active participant in many Outreach Programs through Palm Beach County. This year, we are very excited to announce Our Summer Smiles Outreach.
This is a fun and easy way for Tenn Yuk Orthodontics and all of Our wonderful patients, to help families in need. Below you will read about 3 very special programs, that Dr Tenn Yuk holds very close to his heart. Help Us this summer and throughout the year to give back to Our community. For a sick child to receive a special gift during their stay in the hospital, or a hungry child receive a backpack full of food, can make a huge difference in their lives.
Join Us by giving these children a reason to SMILE!
Kayla Cares 4 Kids
Kayla Abramowitz is the Founder and CKO(Chief Kid Officer) of Kayla Cares 4 Kids, a non-profit organization. Kayla lives in Palm Beach Gardens with her family and began the organization by collecting entertainment and educational items to donate to children’s hospitals in an effort to help children feel better. The now 14-year old came up with the idea after extended hospital stays of her own, in addition to her 10 year old brother Ethan’s numerous hospital trips, due to chronic illness. She named the project “Kayla Cares 4 Kids” and enlisted the help of her family. When it started in March of 2013, Kayla’s original goal was to collect 100 DVDs to donate to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami, but a newspaper article about her in the Palm Beach Post brought in an overwhelming response of donations. With nearly 11,000 items collected and donated to date, Kayla is working as hard as ever to “Helping Sick Kids Feel Better One Smile At A Time!”
Tenn Yuk Orthodontics invites you to join Us in helping Kayla create even more smiles, by bringing these items to your appointment. We are recognized on Kayla’s website as a Drop Off Location, and you will find her beautiful blue collection box in our waiting room.
Place Of Hope
Do you know about “Blessing Bags”. When a child is placed into foster care, they usually come with just the clothes on their backs. Place Of Hope provides each child with their own Blessing Bag: a piece of luggage that contains a new blanket, stuffed animal, Bible and a photo album to capture the new memories they create while in their care. Place Of Hope is looking for new blankets and stuffed animals, to create as many Blessing Bags as possible. Tenn Yuk Orthodontics invites you to join Us in helping Place of Hope reach their goal and to bring your items to your appointment.
Weekend Nutritional Program
Palm Beach County is the 11th largest school district in the United States. With more than half of our school-aged children qualify for free or reduced lunch, the summer months leave families especially vulnerable to food insecurity. The Palm Beach County Food Bank launched the Weekend Nutritional Program in 2013 to help meet the food needs of these families over the summer weekends. The Weekend Nutritional Program provides children with backpacks filled with healthy food to take home to their families for the weekend during the summer months. In 2015, they distributed backpacks at 32 summer camp sites to 2,300 children, a total of 174,434 pounds of nutritious food, (that’s more than 145,361 meals). Tenn Yuk Orthodontics invites you to join us in feeding hungry children right here in our beloved Palm Beach County, by bringing a canned good to your next visit.
If you have a charity or organization that you would like us to help with, please contact us through our website for donation requests. Thank you.
