What is ITero® Scanning?
Using a wand-like device, Dr. Tenn Yuk will scan every quadrant of the jaw and create a 3D image of the bite and alignment of the teeth. This advanced technology is comfortable for patients, eliminates the stickiness and messiness of traditional impression material, and provides instant results.
After each individual quadrant of the jaw is scanned and the effectiveness of the patient’s bite is evaluated, the 3D image of the teeth is immediately visible to the doctor on a high-resolution touch screen. If there is any incomplete data, additional scans can be easily added to the model for a completely accurate picture.
Invisalign® Connectivity
For patients undergoing treatment with Invisalign® or Invisalign® Teen, aligner trays that do not fit properly are created seven times less when using the iTero® scanner than when using traditional impression methods. Additionally, scans using the iTero® are rejected ten times less than those created with impressions.
The advanced connectivity to the Invisalign® system also allows Dr. Tenn Yuk to create a simulated outcome so patients can get a more vivid picture of how their teeth will look after Invisalign® treatment is complete.
Orthodontic Scanning
The iTero® can also be used for general orthodontic scanning. With the capability of scanning thousands of frames per second, this technology delivers accurate, instant results and is quickly becoming a leader in the evolution of modern digital dentistry. Over 1.3 million orthodontic scans have been creating using the iTero®, including over 600,000 Invisalign® scans to date.
